FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does a licensed electrical contractor do?

A certified installer designs, installs, maintains and inspects electrical installations according to the applicable standards (such as NEN 1010 and NEN 3140). This ensures safe connections that meet the requirements of the network operator and insurer. Want to know more about us? Click here.

What does it mean to be "recognized"?

Approval through InstallQ or a similar body shows that we are demonstrably skilled, are periodically inspected and work to national safety standards. This gives you assurance of quality and safety.

Should my electrical system be inspected periodically?

Yes, periodic inspection is recommended and mandatory for companies and associations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. A NEN 3140 inspection prevents risks of fire or injury and shows that your installation may be used safely.

When is my distribution board due for replacement?

Signs include melting fuses (fuses), missing ground fault circuit breakers, too few groups for modern consumers (induction, heat pump, charging station) and outdated or unclear wiring. We are happy to assess this on-site.

Can I expand a group or add an outlet myself?

You can sometimes do minor work yourself, but expansions to the distribution board, new pipes or extra terminal groups should be performed by a licensed installer. This keeps your installation safe and insurance covered.

I want to increase the size of my distribution board, how does that work?

If you wish to increase the load, we will first assess your current installation. This is done by an on-site inspection or, if possible, on the basis of clear photos of the group box and main connection.

If reinforcement is technically feasible, we will carry out the necessary work, such as installing a 4-pole main switch and adapting the internal wiring.
You must then submit the official application for reinforcement of the mains connection to your grid operator yourself via mijnaansluiting.nl

Of course, we can guide you through this application and indicate what specifications are required.

I want to switch from 1-phase to 3-phase, what will change in my distribution board?

When switching from 1-phase to 3-phase (400 V), we first assess whether your distribution board and wiring are suitable for this. Often an inspection on location or assessment based on clear photos is sufficient to determine this.

During the conversion we place a 4-pole main switch with a temporary loop and adjust the internal distribution so that the load is evenly distributed over the three phases. If necessary, we replace the distributor, fuse holders or install components such as earth leakage switches or circuit breakers.

You then request the actual reinforcement of the network connection from your network operator yourself via mijnaansluiting.nl
During the visit by the network operator, the single-phase smart meter will be replaced by a three-phase version and we connect it to the four-pole main switch. The temporary loop will be removed.

Do you perform inspections according to NEN 3140 or NEN 1010?

Yes. We provide completion inspections (NEN 1010) and periodic inspections (NEN 3140), including a measurement report and, if desired, a declaration of conformity.

Do you provide breakdown or emergency service?

Yes, within our region we fix urgent breakdowns as soon as possible. VvEs and customers with maintenance appointments are given priority. Outside office hours by appointment.

What are the benefits of LED lighting?

LED uses up to 80% less energy, lasts longer and is low maintenance. It combines well with presence sensors and smart circuits for additional savings.

Can my installation be expanded for solar panels or charging stations?

We usually do. We first assess the capacity of your installation. Sometimes an increase in the main connection or modification of the distribution board is necessary for a safe expansion.

What does phase distribution or load per phase mean?

With a 3-phase connection (400 V), power is distributed to three phases. Proper distribution prevents overloading and outages. We check this when installing solar panels, heat pumps and charging stations.

Do you also install home charging points or for CoEs?

Yes. We supply and install charge points for private and business customers, including load-balancing, meter box adjustment and inspection. For VvEs we also arrange the technical preparation and management arrangements. More information can be found on our services page on electric charging

Do you also work for VvEs, companies and property managers?

Yes. We offer scheduled maintenance, NEN inspections, emergency lighting and priority breakdown monitoring. See also ourVvE & Property Managementpage.

What guarantee do you give on work?

Standard 2-year warranty on materials and assembly unless otherwise stated. Manufacturers often provide a 5-10 year product warranty on components.

Do you also do small work (connect lamp, extra outlet)?

Yes, you can also come to us for small jobs. You can then be sure that everything is connected safely and correctly.

Are you working with smart systems or home automation?

Yes. We install Jung Home, KNX components, smart thermostats, Home Assistant connections and energy management, among other things. So we link lighting, heating, PV and charging stations.

What are your working area and region?

We work primarily in Zuidplas and surrounding areas: Zevenhuizen, Waddinxveen, Moerkapelle, Moordrecht, Nieuwerkerk a/d IJssel, Capelle a/d IJssel, Rotterdam and Gouda. Outside the region on request.

What does an installer cost per hour?

Our current hourly rate is € 71.90 excluding VAT (€ 87.00 including VAT). We charge by quarters and communicate clearly about any material costs. See also our page on our rates.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Yes, our call-out rate within the primary working area, also known as a starting rate, is €39.00 excl. VAT (47.19 incl. VAT) per visit. Outside this area, travel expenses will be calculated based on mileage and travel hours. See also our page on our rates.

How do I request a quote?

Via the contact form, by email or by phone. We first discuss your needs; for larger projects, we will schedule an on-site shoot and you will receive a clear quote.

Will I receive a declaration of conformity after completion?

Yes, if required we can provide a declaration of conformity according to NEN 1010/NEN 3140. This proves that the work has been carried out by a recognized installer.

Can you help with emergency lighting and annual testing?

Yes. We test, maintain and replace emergency lighting and record the results for your records and any audits.
